Wildcats score bull’s-eye against Archers.

A dominant 77-46 performance by the Nottingham Wildcats saw them dispatch Cardiff Archers on their way to a place in the WBBL Playoff semi-finals. Ashley Harris’ 26pts, 13 rebounds and Siobhan Prior 22pts, 5 assists, were instrumental in initiating the early momentum which saw the Wildcats blast out the gates with a 14-0 run.

A plethora of 3 pointers by the afore mention duo in the first 3 minutes of the game opened a gap but Steff Collins mounted a personal come back with 6 consecutive points for the Archers. A swift response saw the Wildcats end the 1st quarter with a 26-10 advantage.

Both Teams traded baskets in the 2nd quarter but the Wildcats were able to increase their advantage. Although a lacklustre start to the 3rd quarter saw Cardiff pull back some of the deficit with Judit Fritz providing the scoring, the reprieve however was brief as the Wildcats found their groove once again from behind the arc scoring four 3 pointers in a row, three of which were scored by Prior. The lead grew to 37 points at one point and at the final whistle, Wildcats were one step closer to returning to the playoff final.

Judit Fritz was the only player for Cardiff in double figures, scoring 18 points in a spirited performance by the shorthanded Cardiff squad.
