Weekend Preview

WILDCATS GO FOR THIRD STRAIGHT WIN.

Nottingham Wildcats entertain Team Northumbria at the Wildcats Arena this Saturday, looking for their third straight win. A Wildcats’ win will take them above the side from the Northeast, into fifth place in the Women’s National League Division One. For a side that in previous years has consistently been in the top three of the Division, moving into fifth place may not seem a great achievement. However, considering that before the Christmas break, the Wildcats were rock bottom of the league, this will indicate steady progress is being made.

The Wildcats have already meet Northumbria once this year when they defeated them by 67pts to 59, in the quarter–final of the National Cup. This narrow victory came of the back of a 25pt haul from Siobhan Prior, with Caitlin Flood adding 12pts and Judy Wright, who has now left the club, chipping in with 10pts. Against Durham last weekend Prior had a season high 27pts, Flood 18 and Wright’s replacement, Abby Wentworth 23. Whilst this level of scoring form these three players is excellent, it is also a weakness. The Wildcats need a more balance offence with more players contributing on the offensive end, which makes it more difficult for opponents to defend.

The game at the Wildcats Arena tips at the early time than normal of 5pm. So get your Saturday off to a good start by supporting the Wildcats.
