Shaw thing for Wildcats

Wildcats’ centre Hannah Shaw has signed on for another season with the Nottingham based club.

Having initially started at the Wildcats as a 13 year old, Shaw has been an integral part of back-to-back WBBL Championship titles for the club.

She also spent the early part of the summer with the GB Senior women’s squad and is looking forward to the 2017-18 season and delivering more success with the Wildcats.

“As I write this, there are just over 30 days until our home opener against Sevenoaks,” declared Shaw.

“I’m super excited that this is our first game for the 2017-18 campaign, considering the disappointing ending to last season.

“Our goals are still the same – to win everything we possibly can at this level as I don’t see what other goals there can be and with some teams bolstering their squads considerably (including us) it won’t be an easy ride for anyone.

“That being said, we’ve got some familiar faces back and we’ll be ready to compete from the first whistle. The league has improved year on year and I think this one will be no different, which is a great positive for women’s basketball in this country.

“Defending our league titles will definitely be harder. But, it’s a challenge that I am more than looking forward to”.

Coach Dave Greenaway is excited about the return of his experienced centre and stated: “Hannah’s return for the 2017-18 season bolsters our front court and provides continuity from last years team.

“Hannah has been putting in the work during this off-season and I am looking forward to seeing her applying the gains she’s built over the summer.

“I believe this will be one of her most productive seasons yet and her commitment to improve her play will be a very valuable trait to us as a team.”
