So on to game three of our home run. For the first time this season the Wildcats started strongly defensively, keeping the away side to just 4 points after almost 5 minutes of play. Coach Burton started to run the bench hoping to keep the tempo of the game high. However, the opposite happened and they took their collective foot of the gas and turned in a disappointing end to the first quarter. This also carried through into the second quarter and this allowed a Leeds side, which had appeared to be out of the game, to win that quarter by 23pts to 14 and gain a toe hold in the game.
After half time the Wildcats regained control and with their perimeter shooting starting to find the basket the Wildcats never looked back going on to score a season high 93pts. Although Coach Burton was pleased with this she wasn’t so happy about the 79 given away and knows to regain a playoff spot the Wildcats have to be more consistent throughout the whole game.
Abigail Wentworth has proved a great addition since Christmas and scored a season high of 26, backed up by Caitlin Flood with 23 and Siobhan Prior and Emma Pass notching 17pts each. That was also a season high for Pass.
