The Wildcats Mini-ballers closed in on their first Notts Mini Basketball title last weekend, when they defeated Mansfield Giants by 73pts to 53.  Both teams went into the contest with a 100% record, so although it was not a championship decider, lifting the title is now in the hands of the Wildcats Mini-ballers.

Clearly winning was important, but it was the contribution from all ten of the players that was most pleasing aspect of the game.  With each player having to play a minimum of two quarters each, the coaching staff looked to field two equally balanced fives.  This tactic worked exceptionally well as the Wildcats won all four quarters.

Another pleasing aspect of the Mini-ballers is that the girls and boys play as a team.  This is not the case with all teams, as some boys seem reluctant to pass the ball to a girl, which is detrimental to the team.   Whereas within the Wildcats team, it is about the player, not their gender.  That is not to say the players see all the passes, but they are young and are looking to do the right things.
