Doran lands back with Wildcats.

The basketball journey of Lana Doran started at the Nottingham Wildcats and she is now returning to the club for the forthcoming WBBL season.

A native of Kettering, Doran was a junior with the Wildcats before moving on to Barking Abbey Academy and subsequently receiving a scholarship during 2012, to attend North Carolina Gardner Web University in America. In 2014, she then transferred to Pennsylvania, studying for a business and accounting degree at the California of Pennsylvania University.

Doran has represented GB U20s and will be joining an ever-growing list of players to have played junior basketball at the Wildcats and after completing their basketball scholarship in America, returned to represent the Nottingham club in the WBBL.

In her senior year in the States, she started all 27 games averaging over 30 minutes, with a stat line of: 9.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.5 steals per game.

Commenting on her return, Doran stated: “I am very pleased to be joining Wildcats and being a part of the WBBL. I enjoyed my time at Wildcats as a junior player and I am very thankful to Nottingham for giving me this opportunity and welcoming me back.

“Wildcats are a very successful club, and I look forward to contributing to a successful 2017-2018 season. The WBBL is a tough and competitive league and I am looking to build on the success I achieved whilst playing in America during the last 5 years.

“I know we have a very strong squad this year and I am really excited to be a part of this, and to compete at the highest level.”

Meanwhile Head Coach, Dave Greenaway was equally enthusiastic about his new recruit and said: “Lana’s commitment to return to the Wildcats is a positive boost for our team for the upcoming season.

“She has had an interesting and successful basketball journey in the States and that experience plus the challenges she’s faced and overcome, will add a much-needed mental toughness to the core of our team make up.

“The intangibles that she will bring to the team and her contribution on both sides of the game will assist to enhance our performance.”
